One of New Zealand’s pioneers of talkback radio, Gordon Dryden has died.
Born on 7 June 1931, Dryden ventured into journalism at the age of 14 after having attended about 10 schools prior to quitting high school.
He began his career in print journalism before transitioning into broadcasting where he made a name for himself as a tough interviewer.
Dryden had a daily talk show on the radio I in Auckland in the 1970s and also worked as a rugby commentator.
His death was confirmed on 25 September 2022 by his family statement that was released.
