Gulsen ColakogluFamous Turkish pop star, Gulsen Colakoglu has been released from jail and placed under house arrest after she was apprehended by authorities for “inciting hatred and enmity” through a joke she passed about Turkish religious schools.
The 46-year-old singer was apprehended and taken from her Istanbul residence and locked up in jail while she awaits her trial. This comes after Gulsen Colakoglu passed a joke about one musician at a show in April citing that the perversion was a result of attending a religious school in Turkey.
He “graduated from Imam Hatip (religious schools). That’s where his pervert side comes from…”
Gulsen Colakoglu’s release comes after her lawyer petitioned an Istanbul court over her arrest. Though she has been released, the charges against her have not been dropped and she is not allowed to leave her residence.
Following her release, Gulsen Colakoglu took to her Twitter account to apologize to “anyone who was offended” by the joke.
