A New York City native who was a businesswoman, Priscilla Charlene Cash, was the first wife of the late Namibia’s president, Hage Geingob. They got married in 1967 and later divorced. The couple had one daughter, Nangula Geingos-Dukes.

Priscilla Charlene Cash, known as Aunty Patty, born in New York in the USA, died at Windhoek Mediclinic on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.

Following his first marriage, Geingob later wedded Loini Kandume, a businesswoman, on September 11, 1993, in a high-profile ceremony held in Windhoek. This union resulted in the birth of two children – a daughter and a son.

However, the marital journey faced challenges, and in May 2006, Geingob initiated divorce proceedings against Kandume. The process concluded with Geingob being granted a provisional divorce order in July 2008. Subsequently, on February 14, 2015, Hage Geingob entered into another marriage, tying the knot with Monica Kalondo.

How Did Hage Geingob Die?

On January 8, 2024, Geingob publicly disclosed that he had been diagnosed with cancer once again. Seeking medical attention, he underwent treatment in the United States starting on January 25 and returned to Namibia on January 30 after a two-day treatment period.

Tragically, on February 4, Vice President Nangolo Mbumba conveyed the news of Geingob’s passing at Lady Pohamba Hospital in Windhoek, where he had been undergoing treatment. Mbumba mentioned that Geingob’s wife and children were by his side during his final moments. Geingob, at the age of 82, had succumbed to the illness.

Formally sworn in at a hastily organized ceremony at State House in Windhoek, Vice President Nangolo Mbumba took on the role of acting President of Namibia, a mere 15 hours after Geingob’s demise. A government spokesperson stated that Mbumba would fulfill the remainder of Geingob’s term, set to conclude on March 21, 2025.
