Born on 19 May 1992 in Saint Peter Port, Guernsey, England, Heather Miriam Watson is a British professional tennis player.
She is a former British No.1 who has nine career titles including a mixed-doubles title with Henri Kontinen at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships.
This feat made her the first British woman to win a Grand Slam title since Jo Durie in 1991 and the first Brit to win a Wimbledon since 1987.
Watson won her first WTA Tour singles title at the Japan Open; earlier in her career as a junior, she won the U.S Open and gold at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games.
At age twelve she went to the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Florida; having started playing tennis at the age of seven. She turned professional in 2010.
Watson is right-handed and plays with a two-handed backhand. She uses the Babolat Pure Strike racquet.
