Hilary Devey was born Hilary Lorraine Brewster on 10 March 1957 in Bolton, Lancashire, England. She was a television presenter and personality, businesswoman, and entrepreneur.

Devey is acclaimed for her role in Dragon’s Den on BBC Two. She left the Dragon’s Den to present The Intern on Channel 4.

As a child, she witnessed the telling effect of bankruptcy on her family when her father’s central heating company went broke.

She left school at the age of sixteen to join the Women’s Royal Air Force, where she served in the air traffic control unit for a brief period.

For her business services, the University of Bolton awarded her an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration.
