The Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) has released a statement begging Ghanaians on behalf of Kumawood actor, Yaw Dabo after the latter labeled Ghanaians who watch movies for more than an hour as lazy people.
The famous actor angered many Ghanaians after he opined that people should not sit in their homes for extended periods just to watch movies when they can be working and making some cash. He further explained that anyone who can sit on their behinds and watch a movie for more than an hour is just lazy.
Responding to the development, FIPAG in a statement hinted that they believe the actor erred in his delivery and hence apologize on his behalf.
“The Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) wishes to render an unqualified apology to the Ghanaian public on behalf of the association, the film industry, actors and all film producers for a recent statement made by actor Yaw Dabo, calling Ghanaians who sit for more than an hour to watch movies lazy people,” part of the statement read.
“The film fraternity finds the statement very unsavory, offensive and insulting. Such behavior or attitude is an affront to the film industry and should not be entertained and supported by well-mannered persons,” it added.
