Multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Leandro Lo has passed away.
Born on May 11, 1989, in São Paulo, State of São Paulo, Brazil, Leandro has also won BJJ events including the World Cup, Pan American championships, and Brazilian National Jiu-Jitsu Championships.
He held an unbeaten winning streak at the Copa Podio from 2011 to 2013.
Leandro earned his black belt under Cicero Costha at Cicero Costha Academy in São Paulo, Brazil.
He created the New School “NS” Brotherhood team in 2015.
His guard technique has earned him recognition as one of the “best pound for pound grapplers to have ever graced the mat.”

Leandro died on August 7, 2022, after he was shot in the head after an altercation with an off-duty military police officer at a party in São Paulo, Brazil.
He died on his way to the hospital at the age of 33.
