The assistant coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has made the revelation that he is the one responsible for the discovery of Ghana left-back Baba Rahman.
He said he was a community coach at the time of the discovery. He told Joy News that while he was working as a Senior High School teacher in Kumbugu, was given the added responsibility of overseeing a football development plan in the Northern Region.
Coach Dramani said he was made the regional coach of a five-year development plan. In Tamale where the project took place, he gathered young children who were interested in pursuing footballing careers, among whom was Baba Rahman.
He said that they put both males and females numbering over 100 together and train them before they are moved to their clubs.
Baba Rahman has gone on to play for the likes of Dreams FC, Asante Kotoko, Augsburg, and Chelsea.
The Reading FC defender was part of Ghana’s squad that featured at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has been retained as the assistant Black Stars coach after the appointment of Chris Hughton as the new head coach.
