Afrobeats artist, Kelvynboy and his management team have come out to state that they do not have confidence in any of the award schemes that are held in Ghana.
The artist made this assertion in response to a question posed by radio and television personality Abeiku Santana on whether he hopes to win the Most Popular Song of the Year award at the VGMA. He confirmed a statement by a member of his management team that he did not trust the organizers of the award scheme.
He stated emphatically that he does not… (pauses) but to be honest he and his team don’t trust award organizers, even the Grammy awards people have issues with it.
A former winner of the VGMA’s Unsung Artist of the Year, Kelvynboy stressed that all the artists competing in his category then were very good and if he had lost to them he would have been hurt.
He stated that “If I don’t win it, I’ll be hurt but there are other equally popular songs on there and I deserve it too if I pick up the award. When I looked at the nomination, I saw other very good artists there so it’s cool whichever way,”.
Kelvyn Boy has been nominated for Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste and Most Popular Song of the Year at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, which is organized by Charterhouse.
