Jermaine Lamarr Cole, an American-German rapper, record producer, songwriter, singer, and professional basketball player, was born at an American Military Base in Frankfurt, West Germany.
Cole stayed there with his older brother Zach and mother and father till he was 8 months when his father left them which resulted in them having to move out from there.
Cole’s mother moved him and his older brother to settle in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Cole expressed an affinity for music and basketball and served as a first chair violinist for the Terry Sanford Orchestra until 2003.
Cole started rapping at the age of twelve and saw it as an ideal profession in 2000 when his mother gifted him an ASR-X musical sampler during Christmas. Cole graduated high school with a GPA of 4.2 which earned him a scholarship at St. John’s University.

J. Cole as called by his fans, used to live at Forest Hills Drive but moved. After many years of moving out, Cole still came back to Forest Hills to purchase the house as it is attached to his childhood and set up the DreamVille Foundation in Fayetteville.
Cole purchased the 1,600 square-foot Forest Hills Drive house as a rent-free home for single-mother families. Cole currently lives in Raleigh with his wife and sons.
