J. D. Martinez Siblings: Meet Sister Mayra Bazavilvazo

Julio Daniel Martinez is a baseball outfielder and designated hitter for the Boston Red Sox . He played for the Detroit Tigers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Houston Astros before making his Major League Baseball debut in 2011 with the Astros.

Martinez is a right-handed pitcher and hitter who is 6 feet 3 inches tall and 221 pounds. Martinez, a native of Miami, Florida, attended Nova Southeastern University in his home state Florida, before being taken by the Astros with the 611th overall choice in the 20th round of the 2009 amateur draft.

He is the first NSU graduate to be selected and go on to play in the major leagues. He was chosen for the MLB All-Star Game four times.

Mayra Bazavilvazo is one of six children raised by  Julio Martinez and Mayra Martinez. Her father is originally from Cuba. He moved to the United States where he settled in the state of Florida with his wife.
