Born on August 17, 1963, in South Bend, Indiana, United States, Jacqueline R. Walorski was an American politician and U.S. representative for Indiana’s 2nd congressional district from 2013 until her death in 2022.

A member of the Republican Party, she was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives, representing Indiana’s 21st district, from 2005 to 2010.

Walorski won the Republican nomination for Indiana’s 2nd congressional district in 2010 but narrowly lost the general election to Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly.

In 2012, she won the seat after Donnelly vacated it to run for the U.S. Senate.

Jackie Walorski died in a car crash in Indiana on August 3, 2022.

Four people, including Walorski, were killed near Nappanee, Indiana, when a vehicle traveling northbound on State Road 19 veered left and collided head-on with Walorski’s vehicle, which had been traveling southbound.

The driver of the other vehicle and two additional passengers in the congresswoman’s vehicle were also killed: Walorski’s communications director, Emma Thomson, and her district director, Zachery Potts.

The collision occurred near the intersection with State Road 119. She was 58 years.

Jackie Walorski did not have kids. Although she was married to Dean Swihart, a schoolteacher in Mishawaka.

The couple got married in1995 and five years later they relocated to Romania to work as missionaries.

The couple was still together until the death of Walorski.
