Jamin Ben Raskin was born on 13 December 1962 in Washington, D.C.
He is an American attorney and politician serving as the U.S representative for Maryland’s 8TH congressional district since 2017.
Raskin served in the Maryland State Senate from 2007 to 2016. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
At the age of 16, he graduated from Georgetown Day School and went on to Harvard to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in government with a concentration in political theory. His Juris Doctor was received from the Harvard Law School.
Raskin taught constitutional law at American University Washington College of Law for close to three decades. He was the director and co-founder of the LL.M program on law and government.
The Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project was also co-founded by him.
He was elected to the Maryland State Senate in 2006.
Raskin is a vegetarian and Jewish who has Russian roots.

Thomas Bloom Raskin, Tabitha Claire Raskin, and Hannah Grace Raskin are the three children of Jamie Raskin.
Thomas was born on 30 January 1995. He was a graduate of Amherst College and a second-year law student at Harvard when he committed suicide at age 25.
Tabitha was born on 31 January 1997.
Hannah is the oldest daughter and child of Jamie Raskin. She was born on 13 July 1992.
