Jamin Ben Raskin was born on 13 December 1962 in Washington, D.C.
He is an American attorney and politician serving as the U.S representative for Maryland’s 8TH congressional district since 2017.
Raskin served in the Maryland State Senate from 2007 to 2016. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
At the age of 16, he graduated from Georgetown Day School and went on to Harvard to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in government with a concentration in political theory. His Juris Doctor was received from the Harvard Law School.
Raskin taught constitutional law at American University Washington College of Law for close to three decades. He was the director and co-founder of the LL.M program on law and government.
The Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project was also co-founded by him.
He was elected to the Maryland State Senate in 2006.
Raskin is a vegetarian and Jewish who has Russian roots.
