James Dixon Barnes was born in Glasgow, Scotland on 28 April 1956. He is a Scottish-born Australian musician, singer, and songwriter.
Barnes’s family moved to Australia when he was five years old, initially settling in Adelaide before moving to live near Elizabeth.
He has a career as both a solo artist and the lead vocalist for the rock band Cold Chisel. With Cold Chisel, James has 14 Top 40 albums and 13 charting albums as a solo artist.
