Joe Sakic Parents: Slavica Sakic, Marijan Sakic (Mother, Father)

Joseph Steven Sakic was born on 7 July 1969 in Burnaby, British Columbia.
He is a former ice hockey player turned executive. A one-team man, he played for 21 years with the Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche franchise in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Sakic who was named captain of his team in 1992 is widely regarded as one of the greatest team leaders in the history of the competition; he led his team to win the Stanley Cup titles in 1996 and 2001.

Nicknamed “Burnaby Joe”, he was named the most valuable player of the 1996 playoffs and in 2001 by the hockey writers and fellow players as MVP.

Sakic loves to play golf and has a charity that is estimated to have provided over seven million meals to poor children and families.

Slavica Sakic and Marijan Sakic are the parents of Joe Sakic. They are originally from Croatia in the former Yugoslavia.

They migrated to Canada where they had Joseph.
