Joey DeFrancesco was born on 10 April 1971 in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
He was an American jazz organist, trumpeter, saxophonist, and singer.
At age four Joey began playing the organ and at 10 years was already a member of a Philadelphia-based band.
He studied music with an emphasis on the piano and organ at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts.
The Philadelphia Jazz Society McCoy Tyner Scholarship is one of the many awards Joey won while still in high school.
Columbia Records signed him on an exclusive recording deal when he was 16 years old.
His first record titled All of Me was released a year after he was signed onto Columbia Records.
DeFrancesco was a four-time Grammy Award nominee and a 9-time winner of the Down Beat Critics Poll.
He was inducted into the Hammond Hall of Fame in 2013.
