John Robert Isner was born on 26 April 1985 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He is an American professional tennis player. The Association of Tennis Professionals ranked him as high as world number 8 in singles in July 2018 when he won the 2018 Miami Open and world number 19 in the doubles.
Isner is regarded as one of the best servers to have ever played on the ATP Tour. He is on record to have been involved in the longest professional tennis match in history when he played Nicolas Mahut in five sets which were 11 hours and 5 minutes long and played over the course of three days.
Isner began playing tennis at the age of 11. He has a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from the University of Georgia.
He turned professional in 2007 and is currently being coached by David Macpherson. Isner lives in Dallas, Texas with his family.
