John Michael Landy AC CVO MBE FTSE, OLY was an Australian middle-distance runner and state governor. He was the 2nd person to break the barrier of four minutes in the mile race and set world records in the 1500-metre run as well as miles. He also served as governor for the 26th time in Victoria from 2001 until 2006.
John Landy was born in Melbourne, Victoria, on 12 April 1930. Landy attended Malvern Memorial Grammar School and Geelong Grammar School. Landy graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1954 with a Bachelor of Agriculture Science.

John Landy died on February 24, 2022, at the age of 91. The cause of John Landy’s death is attributed to natural causes, as his son Matthew Landy confirming the death in a statement to News Corp said;
“Dad passed away peacefully on Thursday surrounded by what he loved most, his family and the Australian bush.
“We are going to really miss him. He was not only a wonderful husband, but a wonderful father, and he lived a wonderful life.
“It was a privilege to be his son and a privilege to be able to share some of his fascinating and wonderful life.”
However, he has been reportedly battling Parkinson’s disease for a very long time.
