Mr Ibu passed away at Evercare Hospital, in Lagos, on February 2, 2024, at the age of 62.

The seasoned actor had been grappling with illness, undergoing numerous surgeries, and receiving continuous medical treatment in his pursuit of recovery since the previous year. The family revealed that Mr. Ibu underwent leg amputation in November.

Queen Chioma Egboh is the beautiful sister of the late John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu. She is upcoming actress and a blogger. She has played a few roles in Nollywood and is following the footsteps of her big brother.

In 2019, Okafor accused her sister Queen Chioma Egboh of publishing a story of him battling with a stroke as there were news going around that the actor has suffered a stroke, Mr Ibu had to make a video to debunk the rumour.

According to Mr. Ibu, it was his sister who initiated the dissemination of false information regarding his health.

He expressed, “I don’t know what actually happened; one of my sisters was also part of the rumour mongers.

“She just opened a media house; so, she is looking for a way to make her brand go viral. I feel she should have consulted me before spreading this kind of news and I would have given her another angle to explore such that it would not affect my image.”

From Mr. Ibu’s disclosures, it’s apparent that his sister, Queen Chioma Egboh, who launched the “Politics And Life Magazine” at that time, orchestrated the rumor to increase her readership and attract followers to her new platform.

According to the initial report by e-Nigeria, which was the first to publish the news, they communicated with Mr. Ibu’s younger sister, Chioma, at 2:31 p.m. on her Glo phone number ending with … 2135. Chioma confirmed that her brother (Mr. Ibu) had suffered a stroke but was rapidly recovering, attributing the incident to a spiritual attack.

The renowned actor emphasized, “I have forgiven my sister for what she did. I am alive and well, my wife was very angry over the news and wanted to take action, but I told her not to do so. I’ve left it to God for Him to defend me.”
