According to a recent source, the actor, who had arrived in Paris for a new project, was preparing to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow and was connected to a $301 million agreement.
“Disney are very interested in patching up their relationship with Johnny Depp. They reached out to the actor prior to his defamation trial against Amber Heard and asked whether he would be interested in returning for another Pirates film or two,” a source revealed to PopTopic — an Australian news outlet.
However, Depp’s spokesperson debunked the claims in an interview with Metro.co.uk. even though the source had claimed that the bosses of the production had already sent a draft for his character.
Depp previously discussed his thoughts on returning to the action series after making his screen debut as Captain Jack Sparrow in 2003.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, which went on to gross a whopping $4.5 billion (£3.4 billion) worldwide, served as the character’s initial introduction to fans.
