John Christopher Depp has thanked the jury for giving him his life back after winning his libel case against his ex-wife, Amber Heard over an op-ed where Amber hinted going through domestic abuse while with Johnny Depp.
Johnny Depp won $15 million in damages with Heard taking away $2 million over comments passed by Depp’s lawyer about her in Daily Mail.
After weeks of trial with witnesses stepping into the box and stepping out, the jurors finally concluded that indeed Heard’s article published in the Washington Post defamed the actor.
According to the jury, Amber’s statements about Depp in the op-ed were false, defamatory and said with malice.

Depp was therefore awarded $15 million, $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in putative. However, the latter will be reduced to $350,000 due to a statutory limit in Virginia.
Heard also won one of her three defamation counter-claims against her ex-husband and was awarded $2m, a meager amount as compared to the $100m she was sought for.
