Katarina Mary Johnson-Thompson was born on 9 January 1993 in Liverpool, England. She is an English heptathlete.
Johnson-Thompson holds the British record for high jumps with 1.98m and 1.97m outdoors and indoors respectively.
She was a gold medalist in the heptathlon at the 2019 World Championships. She is also a European Indoors Championships gold medal winner in the pentathlon.
She attended St Julie’s Catholic High School and went on to study sports science at Liverpool John Moores University. She is a member of the Liverpool Harriers and Athletics Club and was coached by Mike Holmes.
Johnson-Thompson is close friends with British actress Jodie Comer with whom she attended high school and is a staunch supporter of the English Premier League club Liverpool.
She currently splits her time between Montpellier, where she moved in 2016, and her home city of Liverpool.

Ricardo Thompson and Tracy Thompson are the parents of Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
Tracy is a former dancer from Liverpool, while Ricardo was a production assistant for ZNS-TV in the Bahamas.
The two separated while Katarina was still a baby.
Ricardo died in November 2017.
