Kevin Owen McCarthy was born on 26 January 1965 in Bakersfield, California. He is a politician who has been serving as House Minority Leader in the United States House of Representatives since 2019.
McCarthy obtained both his Bachelor of Science in marketing and Master of Business Administration from the California State University, Bakersfield.
He had his first job in politics when he worked as staff for Congressman Bill Thomas from 1987 to 2002. He chaired the California Young Republicans in 1995.
McCarthy who was elected to the California State Assembly in 2002 was earlier in 2000 elected as a trustee of the Kern Community College District.
He was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2006 after he had become the Republican floor leader in 2003.
McCarthy is married with two children and was a former board member of the Community Action Partnership of Kern.
