Mr.Kurt Okraku, the president of Ghana’s football governing body has called on the country’s Olympic football team to beat Algeria in the second leg of the U-23 AFCON qualifiers and secure a spot at the tournament.
He made the call during a meeting with the squad after it held a training session on Saturday.
The Black Meteors were held to a 1-1 draw away in Algeria and as a result, the FA president has admonished the team to put that behind it and be focused on the second leg.
He was positive that the team could earn a place at the Paris Olympics next year from the AFCON in Morocco.
Okraku told the squad to forget the result and prepare for a new game against Algeria. He stressed that it is a game that will take us to not only the AFCON in Morocco but will give us a chance to qualify for the Olympic games which we haven’t featured in since 2004.
He drove home the point that 2004 has been a long time and it is important that the team keeps its focus and works towards a spot at the Paris Olympics.
The Black Meteors will face Algeria on Tuesday at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the second leg of the U-23 AFCON qualifiers.
