Former Ghana international Ntow Gyan has called on coach Kwasi Appiah to set aside his ambitions of landing the Black Stars coaching job for a third time to preserve the reputation he built over the years.
Kwasi Appiah is on record as the only Ghanaian coach to have applied for the vacant Black Stars coaching job. He was in charge of the Black Stars between 2017-2020 in his second stint.
The Black Stars have been without a substantive coach after Otto Addo resigned from the position following Ghana’s elimination at the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.
Ntow Gyan said that Kwasi Appiah has been in charge of the Black Stars twice and is seeking a third stint but he does not want to see Ghanaians lambasting him because he has played his part for Ghana both as a player and a coach.
He believes that Appiah did not apply for the job on his own accord but is being pushed by certain persons. He said applying for the job will not help him.
Chris Hughton is the favorite to land the Black Stars coaching job as it is expected that the GFA will name a new coach by the close of January.
