Laviai Nielsen was born on 13 March 1996. She is a British competitive sprinter.
She was a British 4×400 meters relay team member that won silver at the 2017 World Championships.

Nielsen drew career inspiration from British heptathlete Jessica Ennis sixteen year old who carried the bag of the star athlete at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Nielsen grew up with her identical twin sister, Lina, in Leystone, East London. Lina Nielsen is also an athlete in the same events. She is an Athlete Ambassador for the world’s leading sport for development charity, Right to Play. She is studying for a degree in geography at King’s College London.
