Leicester City have apologised to Chelsea after footage emerged of defender Daniel Amartey throwing their pennant, as the club celebrated their FA Cup win.
The Foxes lifted the trophy for the first time in their history with a deserved 1-0 victory over the Blues at Wembley.
Youri Tielemans’ superb long-range strike in the second half was enough for Brendan Rodgers’ side to claim the spoils.
After the game, Amartey was recorded on camera throwing it over his shoulder and it landed on the floor of the dressing room.
The Ghana international was racially abused on social media following the game.
Leicester have issued an apology on behalf of the player.
It is understood Chelsea have accepted the apology, but Amartey has been spoken to about the incident.
Third-placed Leicester are two points clear of Thomas Tuchel’s side and six better off than Liverpool in fifth. But the Reds have a game in hand on the duo and face West Brom on Sunday.
