Leigh Peta Sales was born on 10 May 1973 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
She attended Aspley State High School for her high school education.
Sales earned a bachelor of journalism from the Queensland University of Technology and a Master of International Relations from Deakin University.
She is an author and journalist who works with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
