Elizabeth Nuttall (née Lynch, formerly McColgan) was born on 24 May 1964 in Dundee, Scotland.
She is a British former middle and long-distance track and road runner.
She is a gold medal winner in the 10,000 meters at the 1991 World Champions and a silver medalist at the 1988 Olympics Games. She also won two Commonwealth Games gold medals over the same distance.
She joined Hawkhill Harriers an athletic club in her neighborhood at the age of 12 upon the advice of her Physical Education teacher.
McColgan was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year in December 1991 and was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to athletics in 1992.
