Marcelo Arévalo González was born on 17 October 1990 in Sonsonate, El Salvador. He is a Salvadoran professional tennis player.
The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in June 2022 ranked him as high as world number 10 in doubles and world number 139 in singles in April 2018.
These rankings have made him the highest-ranked player, of both sexes, in both singles and doubles, in Salvadoran tennis history.
González became the first player from Central America to win a men’s doubles major title when he partnered with Jean-Julien Rojer to win the 2022 French Open.
He has a total of five ATP Tour doubles titles.
González turned professional in 2012 and is currently being coached by Yari Bernardo and Carlos Teixeira.
In 2020, he made his World Tennis Team debut by joining the Washington Kastles.
