American entrepreneur, inventor, and longtime host on the Home Shopping Network, Marilyn Miglin, has passed away on March 15 at the age of 83.

Miglin has been referred to as the ‘Queen of Makeovers.’ She was the subject of a lot of media coverage for being the widow of Lee Miglin an entrepreneur and philanthropist who was killed in the year 1997 by the spree killer Andrew Cunanan.

Miglin was born on October 18, 1938, in Pilsen, Czechia, and emigrated to the United States during her early adulthood. She became an actress and model in Chicago.

Miglin founded her beauty company as well as boutique in June 1963 on Oak Street, which grew into a huge cosmetics business. She came up with more than 36 scents and perfumes under the name Marilyn Miglin Cosmetics.

Miglin was host on The Home Shopping Network for over 25 years. Her business’s value is estimated over $50 million.

Miglin was a member of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley’s special committee for tourism, and was an officer for the Chicago Convention, the State of Illinois Board of Economic Development and on the Board of Directors of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
