Matthew Hudson-Smith was born on the 26th of October, 1994 in Wolverhampton. He is a 400-meter sprinter who represents Great Britain in track and field. He established a personal best time of 44.35 seconds over the distance in the 2022 Diamond League competition in Eugene, Oregon.
In 2006, he joined Birchfield Harriers, a neighborhood athletic team. Before concentrating primarily on the sprints starting in 2008, he participated in a range of competitions. He focussed mostly on running the 200 meters in 2010 and 2011.
Over that distance, he finished second in the English Schools Championships. At the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany, Hudson-Smith won the gold medal in the 400 meters. He also won the gold in the 4×400 relay at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
