Budding Ghanaian football talent and midfielder for Eredivisie club Ajax, Mohammed Kudus has been nominated in the 47th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards.
The football genius displayed his talent and virtuoso at the just-ended FIFA World Cup held in Qatar. Even though the Ghanaian side could not make it far in the tournament, Kudus’ performance is one that needs commendation.
Speaking about the list of nominees, the general secretary for SWAG, Charles Osei Asibey said, “the shortlisted nominees went through a sturdy ritual of careful but rigorous process in the determination of top performers for honors”.
For the male footballer of the year, Kudus was nominated alongside Black Star captain, Andre Dede Ayew and Arsenal’s Thomas Partey. Mohammed Kudus was also nominated for the personality of the year award.
The 47th SWAG Awards is slated for January 28 this year. Aside from football, honors will be handed to sportsmen and women from boxing, arm wrestling, chess, cricket and tennis.
