Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, known in showbiz as Mzbel is a Ghanaian Hiplife singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. The Goddess Of Ghana is known for her controversial personality, as she always record controversial music, and has followed it up with controversial remarks that will surely draw attention to her fans.
Mzbel was born on Boxing Day, December 26, 1979, in Accra to Albert A. Amoah, an engineer, and Agnes Nyarko. She is the last born of the 7 female children.
Education
Growing within James Town, she attended the God Wisdom Preparatory schools, and went on to KorleGonno 1 in addition to Owusu Mills’ JHS at Mamprobi (a suburb of Accra) for the Junior High School education. Mzbel has acknowledged that she was addicted to bleaching her skin in her teens, as it was a common practice in Jamestown.
Mzbel was then able to continue her secondary education at Abuakwa State College. She pursued general studies, with a focus in geography, economics, and French. Then she was accepted to study at Ghana Institute of Languages, and then trained to become a bilingual secretary.
When she was at the school, she got opportunity as the Manifold Tutorial College was offering a one-year television production course. She signed up, combining it with her studies at the Institute of Languages, and studied public relations, TV as well as radio production.
Mzbel Music Career
Following her studies at the GIL and a brief stint at Manifold Tutorial College, she got an internship at GBC Radio 1 where she hosted a children’s program called “Mmofra Kyepem.” After GBC Radio 1 she joined Groove FM, (now Adom FM) as an intern. She was also the co-host of an ‘child-focused’ show called “Kids on the Groove.”
Haven been working with Groove FM for a while, but the desire for higher accolades resulted in Mzbel onto TV3 as an assistant in the production department to one of their youth focused programs dubbed Goldblast. She also worked as a floor manager for the same and as an assistant in the production of another show called “Talking Drum.”
In 2002, Mzbel got the chance to collaborate with Hush Hush Studios, which at the time was onto the scene as a brand-new production company. While working at Hush Hush, she sometimes was asked to enter the studio. The technicians played their instruments, shef would sing to the tunes she had composed.
These were songs she’d often sing to herself, but with no goal of pursuing a musical career. When she was working part-time for Hush Hush Studios, she found a new job with Metro TV as the only digital video editor, and also producer of “Smash TV,” an entertainment show that airs on weekends.
Since Metro TV, she was employed by Apex Advertising as a video editor and production manager. She was required to mix the music industry with her duties at Apex, and when she felt the two excessively intense, Mzbel chose to give the music the complete focus.
