Nathan MacKinnon Parents: Graham Mackinnon, Kathy Mackinnon

Nathan Raymond MacKinnon was born on 1 September 1995 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He is a professional ice hockey player who plays as a center and alternate captain for the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Mackinnon was the first overall pick by the Avalanche in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He grew up playing in the minor ice hockey system of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.

He enrolled at Shattuck-Saint Mary’s in Faribault, Minnesota in other to take advantage of the school’s strong hockey program. Nathan was the second youngest player on the school’s team yet he was scoring more than two points per game on average.

After showing so much promise at the juniors, he signed his first professional NHL contract which was a three-year entry-level deal, with the Avalanche on 9 July 2013.

The hockey star has also tried out acting, having featured in a recurring role on the Canadian television show Mr. D, playing a fictionalized version of himself.

Graham Mackinnon and Kathy MacKinnon are the biological father and mother respectively of Nathan MacKinnon.

They have another child who is older than Nathan. She is called Sarah.
Both Graham and McKinnon are said to have a very good rapport with their children.
