Newton Leroy Gingrich was born on 17 June 1943 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
He is an American politician and author who served as the 50th speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999.
Gingrich is of English, German, Scottish, and Scots-Irish descent. He attended Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia, and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Emory University in Atlanta and then to Tulane University to earn his Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in European history.
Gingrich was a professor of history and geography at the University of West Georgia before he ventured into politics by vying for the U.S House of Representatives on the ticket of the Republic Party.
Gringrich has authored and co-authored dozens of fiction and non-fiction books. He also produced the films, Ronald Reagan: Rendezvous with Destiny and Nine Days That Changed the World.
