Northern Elders Advise President Buhari To Handle Elections With Caution
A socio-political organization called the Northern Elders Council, NEC, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that the forthcoming general election is transparent and incident free and also be cautious when dealing with challenges that may arise.
One of the leaders of NEC, Mallam Tanko Yakasai, disclosed that there are some non-state actors with access to political power who intend to take advantage of their proximity to leadership to cause mayhem and topple the electoral process for their selfish interests.
President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to be wary of such persons in the country’s interest, according to the NEC statement.
Mallam Tanko Yakasai declared support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) some weeks ago, and gave the assurance that his group would make a policy statement at its next congress on the state of the nation.
The NEC, the statement said will at all times not shy away from its commitment to the peace, unity, and stability of Nigeria.
