Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Usyk is a professional boxer from Ukraine. He is the first cruiserweight champion to hold all four major world championships. He was born in January 1987 in the region of Crimea.
The Ukrainian professional boxer is a world champion in two weight classes, having held the undisputed WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles since defeating Anthony Joshua in 2021. One of the finest Ukrainian boxers of all time, he is highly recognized.
He began fighting professionally in 2013, and in his fifteenth match in 2018, he captured the undisputed cruiserweight belt. He won the Muhammad Ali Trophy, The Ring magazine, and lineal cruiserweight titles, as well as three more titles in the first World Boxing Super Series.
With his victory over Joshua, Usyk joined David Haye and Evander Holyfield as the only boxers to unify the cruiserweight and heavyweight world championships. Usyk won gold medals in the heavyweight class as an amateur at the 2011 World Championships and the 2012 Olympics.
Usyk was recognized for his accomplishments by Sports Illustrated, ESPN, The Ring, and the Boxing Writers Association of America as the 2018 Fighter of the Year.
