Paul Gregory Green was an Australian professional rugby league football coach who was born on September 12, 1972, in Brisbane, Australia.

He was most recently the head coach of Queensland in the State of Origin series, and a professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s.

He played for Cronulla-Sutherland, Parramatta Eels, North Queensland Cowboys, Sydney Roosters, and the Brisbane Broncos, winning the Rothmans Medal in 1995.

Paul Green

He was Queensland State of Origin and Australian international representative halfback. Green as a coach guided the North Queensland club to their first premiership in 2015.

Paul Green died by suicide at his Wynnum, Brisbane, home on 11 August 2022.

Queensland police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to a Wynnum residence just after 10 am this morning after a 49-year-old was located unresponsive. He was declared deceased by emergency crews a short time later”.

Paul Green was laid to rest at a moving service in Brisbane as the NRL legend’s wife Amanda and Johnathan Thurston led a chorus of tributes.

A memorial service for Paul was held at Wynnum Manly Leagues Club.
