Mireia Gibert and Josep Badosa welcomed Paula into the world on November 15, 1997, in Manhattan, New York. Both of her parents were employed in the fashion business. She was 7 years old when they moved to Barcelona. At the Club Tennis d’Aro, she later started playing tennis.
Paula relocated to Valencia at the age of 14 to pursue her tennis career, and she then went back to Barcelona at the age of 17.

After losing to Victoria Azarenka in the first round of the Adelaide International to begin her 2022 season, Badosa went on to win her third career championship in Sydney by defeating Barbora Krejciková in the final in three sets. As a consequence of winning, she rose to a new career-high ranking of No. 6.
