The president of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reacted to the explosion that occurred at Appiate between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Western North Region of Ghana, which left many dead.
Seventeen (17) people have been confirmed dead and 57 people with severe injuries have been hospitalized.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the accident involved a DAF vehicle with the registration number WR 2252-18 transporting explosives from the MAXAM Company, Tarkwa, to Chirano Gold and a motorcycle.

Akufo-Addo reacting to the unfortunate explosion in a series of Tweet said, it was a truly sad, unfortunate and tragic incident, and he went on to extend condolences to the families of the deceased, and wish the injured a speedy recovery.
Adding that the Police, Armed Forces, and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are coordinating efforts to contain the situation.
