Former Ghana striker Prince Tagoe says he does not believe Paris Saint Germain star Lionel Messi deserved being awarded the Ballon d’Or.
The Argentina star was named the top male footballer as he won the seventh Ballon D’or in Paris last night.
In the days before the awards, Tagoe who is a pundit on Angel TV, made the argument that it would be unfair to honor the former Barcelona star.
“If Messi win this Ballon d’Or, it will not be cos of his performance in the year. It will be cos of his name and past achievements. Lewandowski deserves to win. If Lewandowski or others don’t win & Messi does win, it will be unfair,” said Prince Tagoe.
Messi beat Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandwoski and Chelsea’s Jorginho to the prize.
Prince Tagoe played in Europe during his playing days. He played for TSG Hoffenheim, in the Bundesliga and Serbia’s Parizan Belgrade. He also played in the club Bursapor.
He participated in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa for the Ghana Black Stars.
