Zimbabwean boxer Taurai Zimunya has passed away shortly after collapsing following a knockout third-round knockout of the bantamweight bout on the night of Sunday evening, 31st of October.
According to the account of iharare.com, the deceased was defeated by Tinashe Majoni from the Charles Manyuchi Academy in a lightweight fight during the Rise of Champions fight series in Harare, Zimbabwean capital.
He was treated on the ringside, when he collapsed and was later taken into Parirenyatwa Hospital on oxygen support to undergo more treatment.
He was left unconscious while the doctors of Westend Clinic conducted scans to determine the cause of the injury, but before they were able to save Zimunya, he died in the early morning hours of Monday.
While the doctors weren’t certain about what led to his death, suggested that the serious injuries he sustained in the course of the fight led to his death.

Taurai Zimunya, 24, was hospitalized at Parirenyatwa Hospital following the non-title bout in Borrowdale on Sunday. The boxing board said it was “shaken” by the incident,” @ZimLive captioned a short video of the fatal knock-out moment on its Twitter page.
