Death has laid its icy hands on Former Senator, Sati Gogwim of Plateau State on Tuesday. He died at 72 after battling a chronic illness.
His demise was confirmed via social media by his younger brother, Mr Williams Gogwim. He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday saying;
“My brother has been sick since last year and in December he left the country for treatment abroad and only returned on Sunday, April 4.
“He came back a little bit stronger, until this morning when he had health crisis, which compelled us to rush him to Rayfield Medical Centre.
”Unfortunately, on getting there he was confirmed dead,”
Announcing the death of his elder brother, Williams said the family have taken his death in good faith and believes he is now resting in the abode of God.
“We are going to miss him, his love and warm as a brother, father, uncle and supporter,” he said.
He added that the funeral arrangements will be discussed in due time but then, the news of his death came as a big blow to them.
In 2007, Gogwim was elected as senator representing Plateau Central and was at the National Assembly for four years before losing to Sen. Joshua Dariye in 2011.
Gogwim who hails from from Dawaki village in Kanke Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau retired as a Major in the Nigerian Army before joining politics and becoming a senator in 2007.
