Sheryl Kara Sandberg is an American business executive, philanthropist, and billionaire who was born on 28 August 1969 in Washington D.C.

She is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Meta Platforms. She announced on 1 June 2022 that she will be stepping down from her position in the fall.

Sandberg is the eldest of three children. She attended North Miami Beach High School, from where she graduated in 1987.

Sheryl has a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Havard College, winning the John H. Williams Prize for being the top graduating student in economics.

After she graduated from college, she worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company for about a year. Sheryl is also the founder of LeanIn.org.

Sandberg was made Chief Operating Officer of Facebook in 2008 and was elected to a board of directors of the same in June 2012.
