Simona Halep’s brother Nicolae Halep was born to Stere Halep and Tania Halep in 1986. He grew up in Constanta, Romania where he began playing tennis.
He was also encouraged by his father, who was a former footballer and had taken a keen interest in the sporting development of children, to try out for other sports. As a result, he learned other sports including football and volleyball.
Nicolae started out training with his younger sister but quit tennis after a few years to pursue other goals.
He still has a very strong and passionate compassion for the game and is always cheering on his sister like most Romanians.
