Renowned Nigerian author and Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, has refuted rumors of him endorsing the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He regarded a social media post alleging that he has endorsed Tinubu as false.
In a statement released by his media office, he urged Nigerians to disregard the reports that he issued a statement denigrating political parties and politicians.
It stated that Soyinka did not at any time or on any occasion issue such a damning statement.
It went on to further state that it is simply the work of peddlers of fake news and falsehood, who profit from misinformation to gain political advantages.
As the general elections get closers and the competition gets keener, some politicians and political parties are doing all in their power to garner the support of prominent Nigerians who they believe will promote their course at the polls.
