Susan Margaret Collins is an American politician who is a senior senator from Maine. She is a member of the Republican Party.

She is the longest-serving member of Congress, having held her seat since 1997.

Collins is a graduate of St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York.

She began her career as an assistant staff for Senator William Cohen in 1975.
