Sydney McLaughlin Siblings: Taylor McLaughlin, Morgan McLaughlin, Ryan McLaughlin

Sydney Michelle McLaughlin was born on 7 August 1999 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She is an American sprinter and hurdler who holds the World Record in the 400 meters hurdles.

McLaughlin won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and currently holds the world and Olympic records of 51.41s and 51.46s in the 400m hurdles.

As a member of the US women’s 4×400 meters relay team, Sydney won gold medals in the 2019 World Championships and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

When McLaughlin was 15 years old she won the 2015 World Youth Championships. She attended Union Catholic Regional High School in Scotch Plains and went on to compete at the collegiate level for the University of Kentucky.

She comes from and has a strongly athletic family.

McLaughlin turned professional in 2016 and signed a sponsorship deal with New Balance.
